Property projects that make a difference!

The event brought together investors, entrepreneurs, developers, architects and engineering firms to discuss environmentally responsible public property projects. Emphasis was placed on sustainable development, the energy transition and social responsibility. The goal was to help stakeholders in the private sector to anticipate future investments to support their activities.
A rich itinerary
- Presentation of current and future investments by the Province of Namur to achieve the goal of net-zero emissions.
- BEP support services concerning assistance for municipalities in Namur with managing projects.
- New ESG support offering for companies by Namur Invest and the BEP, including industrial symbiosis and carbon audits.
- SMEs will also need to prepare to respond to future reports on the sustainable development of companies, and to integrate sustainable values into what they do as subcontractors.
The proceedings concluded with a presentation on the challenges of renovating buildings in Wallonia by Embuild Wallonie. The general director emphasised the need to fundamentally re-evaluate the construction sector in light of old buildings and rising property costs. He highlighted the need to build in a new manner, with more compact and industrialised housing and shared equipment. The construction sector in Wallonia is planning for a significant increase in the number of workers in order to tackle these challenges.
The future of industrial parks
As we noted in the 2023 report on industrial parks, the Namur region has recently welcomed some very promising companies, and other positive news will be announced in the coming months.
Thanks to the ambitious goal of increasing from 18,749 workers in industrial parks to 20,000 by 2026, focus has been placed on major projects and key sectors that will stimulate job growth. And this is only the beginning.
The goals for 2024 are also ambitious: the BEP has already recorded 12 sales since the beginning of the year, which is on track to be one of the most fruitful in the last decade. This also means that the supply of greenfield sites is slowly drying up. This is why BEP is working hard to find new plots of land all over the province!
In light of this, let’s look at the industrial parks that are available in the short and medium term for investors who want to settle in Namur:
- Care-ys® in Bouge for companies in the healthcare sector. A call for tenders will be launched for this site in the near future, in order to equip the park with turnkey adapted buildings, both for sale and leasing.
- Condrolys in Ciney
- Cit-ys in Belgrade, which will also have an SME village to meet the needs of VSEs and SMEs in a brand-new site.
- In Mariembourg, in a few years
