As regards business parks, the year 2023 was marked by a transitional period for the BEP, characterised by more moderate results in terms of projects finalised in this uncertain context and a desire to manage the installations on the basis of the available spaces. Let’s look back at the year’s figures and forward to the ambitions for 2024!

The key indicators

With 26 deeds signed, the BEP Namur facilitated the practical implementation of numerous corporate investment and installation projects in the region, thereby helping to boost the local economy. These projects resulted in the creation of 252 jobs and the sale of land covering 12.31 hectares, offering companies opportunities to expand and develop in a context conducive to innovation and growth. These transactions also involved a substantial financial investment totalling EUR 38.83 million.

To sum up

Employment

With an ambitious target of increasing from 18,749 to 20,000 workers in 2026, the emphasis was placed on major projects and key sectors in order to stimulate growth in employment. Initiatives were taken to promote the installation of companies and encourage economic diversification, thereby helping to strengthen the local economic fabric.
This applies in particular to the promising projects referred to below which settled in the two parks that alone accounted for 10 sales during 2023: Créalys® and Ecolys®.

Success stories

Investment was an essential driver of economic development in the region, creating new opportunities and enhancing the competitiveness of Namur on the economic stage.
Two important dossiers in particular are worth noting in 2023, which marked this dynamic. First of all, that of Bister, involving an investment of over EUR 6 million at Ecolys®. This infrastructure, scheduled to be operational from June, is part of an initiative to enhance the value of local production.

Secondly, Full-Life Technology at Créalys® a company that plans to resolve the fundamental problems that currently affect radiopharmaceuticals thanks to innovative research targeting the treatments of tomorrow. With the announced creation of a research and development centre, this project promises to bring about significant progress in the field of healthcare and nuclear medicine by creating a radioisotopes production plant involving an investment of over EUR 10 million. In addition, this will increase Namur’s attractiveness for the medical sector.

Secondary market dynamics

Thanks to an overall view of the transactions and activity on the real estate market, the BEP undertakes to meet the needs of every company that contacts it with a view to settling in the Province of Namur.

We dealt efficiently with an impressive volume of applications, having received 300 requests and formulated 736 proposals, bearing witness to the strong demand on the region’s real estate market.

Having coordinated 985 identified properties, the BEP Namur successfully completed 179 dossiers, demonstrating its commitment to respond proactively and professionally to the needs of investors and companies wishing to settle in the region. This range supplements the modules rented by BEP Economic Expansion throughout the Province of Namur, which always have a very high occupancy rate.

 What about 2024?

Looking to the future, the outlook for 2024 is very promising. The forecasts indicate that this will be a dynamic year, with stimulating projects and growth opportunities in various sectors. The strategic axes and key initiatives of the BEP Namur aim to support this growth and strengthen the region’s position as a major economic centre.

Moreover, a number of new business parks can be suggested to investors, following the example of Care-ys® in Bouge for companies in the healthcare sector.
